Workshop FAQ's

Gateway to Freedom is an intensive 3-day workshop for men seeking to overcome pornography and any other unwanted sexual struggles and strongholds.

  • Group Check-In Calls
Each man who attends the GTF workshop will be part of a small group during the weekend. This small group is facilitated by a professional counselor. As part of the AfterCare program, the members of the small group are invited to participate in 3 follow-up Zoom calls* to "check in" with each other and their counselor; this helps a man integrate workshop principles into his daily life of integrity and growth. These calls are one hour in length in a conference call format. *Additional group calls are optional and determined between group members and their counselor at the workshop. Only 3 Aftercare check-in calls are included in the initial cost of the workshop.
  • Counselor Selection Assistance
The journey to greater sexual integrity includes having to look at difficult issues and patterns in one's life. This is where counseling can be a great benefit to help men dig deep into the healing and growth necessary to move forward in freedom. We have a national network of counselors who are qualified in dealing with sexual brokenness issues. As part of a man's Aftercare, we help him find a counselor that is a good fit.
  • GTF Alumni Online Gatherings & Webinars
A high value part of the recovery journey is community. All Gateway Alumni are invited to attend and participate in regularly scheduled online gatherings via video (Zoom.us) or by phone if video is not an option for the Alumni. They are typically Saturday mornings from 9:30am - 10:30am EDT and are interactive, by design. There is a short teaching segment with time for discussion, prayer requests and encouragement. When Live webinars are scheduled an email is sent to all alumni to be able to register and attend. They are free to all alumni. Each is recorded for on-demand later viewing. Both the Online gatherings and Webinars are accessible to GTF Alumni only to maintain the safe environment to share, grow and be encouraged.
  • Support Group Selection Assistance
Support is critical in the process of change, especially as it pertains to breaking free from sexual strongholds (which often isolate men from others). As part of our GTF AfterCare program, each man will receive personal assistance in locating a support group in their local area. If a face-to-face support group cannot be found in a particular area, we will help that individual find the appropriate telephone support group for weekly accountability and encouragement.
  • Helpful Resource Packet for Wives
For the married men who attend the GTF workshop, we will provide their wives with helpful resources as they face their own pain of betrayal, broken trust, fear, and anger. This packet includes the devotional, Keep Walking. We will also assist in locating a qualified counselor for the wife's own healing process. Wives are also encouraged to consider attending an Online Care Group through our Wives Care ministry. If you are a wife looking for immediate help, please contact us today.
  • Audio Recording of All Workshop Teaching Sessions
We often hear from workshop participants that there is so much information covered that it can be hard for them to remember it all. That is why part of our AfterCare program includes providing each man access to an audio copy of all the main teaching sessions from the workshop. These recordings will be of the actual workshop attended, not copies of another workshop. This way, each man can remember exactly what was said at his workshop, thus stirring memories and emotions that he experienced. These recordings will be made available within 5 days after the workshop, and alumni will have lifetime access to these mp3's.
  • How much does the workshop cost, and what is included in the weekend?

The GTF workshop is for men* (married, single, or divorced; age 20 or older) who display any of the following characteristics: Regular use of pornography Have had one or more affairs Habitual masturbation Lying to hide secret sexual behaviors Feelings of intense shame over sexual behaviors Desire to deal aggressively with lust struggles Secret sexual fantasies Experienced unwanted sexual encounters during childhood or adolescence *If you're a pastor (or working in ministry), we understand your struggle and we know how to help you, too.
  • How can I register for the GTF workshop?
Call our number (210-822-8201 x106) between 9am - 4pm Eastern Time or click here to register online.
  • How often are workshops scheduled?
Gateway to Freedom workshops occur on a near monthly basis, providing ongoing support for healing and wholeness in Christ. Each workshop addresses aspects of sexual brokenness and equips attendees with necessary tools. We conduct workshops in Texas, Florida and Georgia. For a complete schedule of current workshop dates, visit our GTF Registration page, or call us at 210-822-8201 x106.
  • Why do you limit the number of men at each workshop?
Real transformation often occurs in a small group setting. By limiting the number of men attending the GTF workshop, it allows for more interaction among all the men. Smaller groups prevent a man from feeling like a number and provides each man with quality attention and care. Breakout groups are, therefore, never larger than 8 men, usually around 6-8 in each group.
  • Is there Internet access at the workshop?
No. We want to create an environment that is free from all distraction to the task of focusing on healing and recovery. All workshop facilities are free of Internet access. We do allow men to keep their cell phones if they wish, but ask that they only be used to contact family or for emergencies.
  • Is there an application process for registering for the workshop?
Yes and no. While there is no formal, or clinical, application process to register for the GTF workshop, we do screen each potential participant to ensure that they are a good fit for the program (this is accomplished by completing a short questionnaire during registration). For instance, the GTF workshop would not be a good fit for someone battling alcohol or drugs. This program is exclusively for men struggling with sexual strongholds in thoughts and behaviors.
  • What are the cancellation policies?
We understand that there could be reasons arise where you need to cancel. We want to do our best to work with you in these situations. There are a few options for you to consider: 1. Payment deferment to another workshop with no additional fees. This allows you to pick any of our other workshops to attend and not lose any money. 2. Full refund minus cancellation fee ($45) for cancellation prior to two weeks from the workshop start date. 3. Half refund if canceling within 2 weeks of the workshop start date. Due to the fact that we have to pay the venues in full before the workshop, canceling within two weeks means that we have already paid for your spot in the workshop. If this is your only option we will gladly refund you half of the price you paid. For example, if you paid the full $1,197 you will receive a refund of $598.50. If you had a $250 scholarship and paid $747, you will receive a refund of $473.50. You will only receive half of what you paid.

  • Is this just a repeat of the GTF intensive weekend?
No, the Alumni Tribe Retreat is not a rehash of the GTF intensive weekend. The sessions of this retreat are designed to help you continue growing from wherever you are in your journey. The pressures from culture are only getting more intense in today's world. During the retreat, you’ll be equipped with tools and insights for building upon the foundation that was laid at the original GTF workshop. We all need a boost, a "shot in the arm" to keep us motivated to make the hard decisions of living a godly life in the midst of increasing temptation. The weekend won't have as "intense" a schedule as the workshop, but we expect it will have just as significant an impact in moving you forward in your pursuit of sexual integrity and godly manhood.
